Christmas Treats For Kids!

December 26, 2008

.

A week before Christmas, I was thinking of making and sharing something for the kids where my father was serving. I thought of candies, an assortment of them. Y0u could never go wrong with giving candies for the kids, right? My Mom liked the idea.
.

It’s simple, easy, and it will surely bring smiles. πŸ™‚
.

Here are the things I used:
.

Christmas Gift Idea

.

* clay pots (I used 20)

* gold paint (for the pots) with brush, of course πŸ™‚

* plastic bags (to hold the candies in!)

* ribbons (to tie the bags)

* japanese paper (I don’t know why they call it “japanese” paper. pleaseΒ  enlighten me if you happen to know. I just use the paper for decorative purposes)

* candies and other treats you can think of like lollipops and wafers! (the most important)
.

What To Do:
.

Finished Product

.

1. Clean the pots and even out rough edges using a sand paper.

2. Start painting the pots with the gold paint. You can choose whatever paint you like. It’s just a matter of preference.

Don’t forget to paint in a well-ventilated or open area. Lay out used news papers to avoid staining the floor.

3. Once the pots are painted, let them dry for a couple of hours or longer, depending on the type of paint you used.

4. While waiting for the paint to dry, you can start filling in those plastic pouches with goodies. Make sure you put one of each kind. You can then secure them with a decorative bow.

5. Cut out the japanese paper into squares to lay inside the pot. Make sure you create a “peek-a-boo” effect with the paper from the pot.

6. Place your candy-filled pouch inside the pots and then you’re set to go.

After the service, we all gathered outside and shared lunch together. There were fish, pancit, paksiw, cake, and fresh fruits and vegetables. We also enjoyed fun games. Yes, there are games and prizes for both the young and the young at hearts πŸ™‚ Then the gifts for the children. It was just a small gesture but it is a labor of love. πŸ™‚

Seems like there ARE good people STILL existing in this world. It really funny to hear that there are organizations to preserve wild life from extinction but there are no organization for preserving good & selfless people. Hahahaha.

By the way, a HI to you.

I don’t think the “goodness” in people is going extinct πŸ™‚ Sometimes it just needs a little driving force or a particular situation for it to manifest. I guess it also depends on the person on the receiving end and how they perceive things. But hey, nobody is a perfect jewel right? I for one have those rough edges. πŸ™‚

      Hello to you too Freddie.
