OW: What About Strawberries?

March 25, 2009

Friends of ours visited us and so we toured them around Baguio. One of the stops is the strawberry field in La Trinidad, Benguet just outside the city.

.

.

This is one vast area. Good thing there are not much tourists so I can take pictures. Or maybe they were just busy on the other side buying strawberry jams and preserves 🙂

1

.

.

.

Oh look at the sun’s rays.

2

.

.

.

Let’s go look for the actual fruits.

32

.

.

Not much here . . . Wait! is that a clover I see at the very center? I wonder what luck is in stored for me. 🙂

42

.

.

.

Let’s try another area . . Aaawwww not that ripe yet and the other one’s too ripe, ok ok rotten I should say 😦

5

.

.

.

Strawberry picking anyone?

5b1

.

.

.

Mmmmmmm the red is so tempting. What to make of it . . .

6

.

.

.

I hope Susan doesn’t mind us going indoors. 🙂 Let’s just chop the strawberries into tiny pieces, add a box/can of Nestle Cream and1 small can of condensed milk, place it on the fridge and viola! – – -easy enough, no fuss strawberry salad!

8

.

I know it’s not so fancy, but hey, it’s fast, easy, and also yummy! 🙂

.

.

Happy Outdoor Wednesday!

Ok, I officially miss being back home! I’ve never been to Baguio, but I’ve heard of “Northern” fruits growing there like oranges, grapes, apples and now strawberries. Wow! I’m curious to find out what strawberries taste like grown in Philippine soil…

    Great pictures!

Oh, lovely! Brings back memories of my youth. We lived near an enormous strawberry farm that looked like your photos. After the commercial picking crew had been through, they would open the fields to everyone. Strawberries off the plants, yum!

  31. March 26, 2009 10:24 am

Oh wow. My husband would think that a royal treat. Fresh strawberries. What is Nestle Cream? I really like them but he loves them dearly.
I love the choir/family of pink rollers for last Saturday’s post. I didn’t get to take part but plan to this Saturday. I have used many of those pink rollers in my hair as well as my daughter’s hair. I have also slept in the much more uncomfortable brush rollers. Yuck.
I hope you are having a wonderful week.
    Jennifer

  36. March 26, 2009 9:13 pm

Wow you are so lucky to have strawberries. We have a very short window for them in Maine. June is usually strawberry season here.

  37. March 26, 2009 9:19 pm

@Marie: posted the very simple recipe at the very end of the blog post 🙂 Just add those two ingredients and that’s it 🙂

@Betty and Jennifer: as to Nestle Cream, I meant All purpose cream. The “Nestle is the brand. I just got used to calling it cause it’s what I always use 🙂

    @Chandy: Yummy still! 🙂

@Claudie: Hello from the Philippines! 🙂

    * The sun rays was accidental. I just snapped and snapped and when it was tie to transfer the pictures, there it was! 🙂

    So glad everybody like strawberries.
